So, you have always been told that you have to vacuum and you need your carpets scrubbed every so often, but do you really have to call in a professional service to clean your carpets as well? If you do, how often do you need to do this? This is something I found myself wondering one day and would like to share with you what I have learned.

You do want to make sure that you are vacuuming on a daily basis, especially in high traffic areas. When you vacuum on a regular basis, you will find yourself in need a professional service as often as you would otherwise.

You may also want to  invest in your very own foam or steam cleaner. The best thing to do is to make sure that when you are cleaning your carpets that you are never soaking the carpet as this breaks down the padding and the carpet fibers, which is not a good thing.

When you have spots or spills on the carpet, you want to make sure that you are addressing those right away. If you make sure to tend to cleaning your carpet as regularly as you should be, then you should have no problem having a nice, clean looking carpet.

However, you should still call in someone for a professional cleaning at least once a year, twice a year if you can afford it. Many people, myself included, choose to call in a professional carpet cleaning service before the holidays so that the carpet is looking its best for when guests arrive.
